Rinne, Heinrich Adolf R. (1819-1868), German otologist. Rinne engaged in private medical practice before accepting a position at a public asylum. He published a notable work on the vocal organs and the development of speech in 1850. In 1855 in a treatise on the physiology of the human ear he introduced Rinne's test for hearing loss.
