Kallmann, Franz Josef (1897-1965), American geneticist and psychiatrist. Kallmann held positions as a professor of psychiatry at Columbia University and as chief psychiatrist at a state psychiatric institute in New York. He was best known for demonstrating how hereditary factors could play a major role in the development of psychoses. In 1952 he produced an important study that investigated the role of heredity in determining homosexuality.
