or tom*a*tin n : a crystalline antibiotic glycosidic alkaloid C50H83NO21 that is obtained esp. from the juice of the stems and leaves of tomato plants resistant to wilt, that is active against fungi including some causing disease in humans, and that is used as a precipitating agent for steroids .
