Bau·hin's valve

n :  ILEOCECAL VALVE
 
Bauhin, Gaspard,
or  Caspar  (1560-1624), Swiss anatomist and botanist. Bauhin served for almost all of his career on the medical faculty at the University of Basel. There he taught both anatomy and botany and as a teacher of anatomy exerted a wide influence. Bauhin first became aware of the ileocecal valve in 1579, in the course of a private dissection, and he published an early account of the valve in 1588.
