canal of Schlemm

n :  a circular canal lying in the substance of the sclerocorneal junction of the eye and draining the aqueous humor from the anterior chamber into the veins draining the eyeball - called also Schlemm's canal , sinus venosus sclerae 
 
Schlemm, Friedrich S. (1795-1858),
German anatomist. Schlemm described the canal of Schlemm in 1830. His description was not the first, for the canal had been noted as early as 1778.
