Ko·rot·koff sounds
also Ko*rot*kow sounds or Ko*rot*kov sounds n pl : arterial sounds heard through a stethoscope applied to the brachial artery distal to the cuff of a sphygmomanometer that change with varying cuff pressure and that are used to determine systolic and diastolic blood pressure Korotkoff, Nikolai Sergieyevich (b 1874), Russian physician. Korotkoff introduced the auscultation method of determining blood pressure in 1905.
