Ha·shi·mo·to's disease
n : chronic thyroiditis characterized by goiter, thyroid fibrosis, infiltration of thyroid tissue by lymphoid tissue, and the production of autoantibodies that attack the thyroid - called also Hashimoto's struma , Hashimoto's thyroiditis , struma lymphomatosa Hashimoto, Hakaru (1881-1934), Japanese surgeon. Hashimoto published his description of chronic thyroiditis in 1912.
