n :  any of a group of various complex conjugated proteins (as mucins) that contain glycosaminoglycans (as chondroitin sulfate or mucoitinsulfuric acid) combined with amino acid units or polypeptides and that occur in body fluids and tissues - called also mucoid  - compare GLYCOPROTEIN  .
