Mül•ler, Fritz (Johann Friedrich Theodor) (1822-1897), German zoologist. Working mostly in South America, Müller made major contributions to the anatomy of invertebrates including the coelenterates, annelids, and crustaceans, to entomology, and to botany. From 1878 onward Müller published a series of articles reporting the mimicry that exists among similar, unpalatable species of insects. This is now known as Müllerian mimicry.
