La·bar·raque's solution
n : JAVELLE WATER Labarraque, Antoine-Germain (1777-1850), French chemist and pharmacist. Labarraque was a pharmacist who served in the French army. He did much to improve the sanitary conditions in hospitals and army barracks and is remembered for his outstanding services during a cholera epidemic in 1832. In 1825 he introduced a solution of chlorinated soda for use as a disinfectant; it is sometimes known as Labarraque's solution.
