n : an infectious disease of cattle that is characterized by fever, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dehydration, excessive salivation, and ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract, that is caused by a togavirus, and that tends to occur in herds with high morbidity but low mortality - called also bovine viral diarrhea , mucosal disease .
