gene conversion

n :  a genetic process in which a heterozygote with one damaged strand of DNA produces gametes in an aberrant allelic ratio (as 3:1) instead of the normal 1:1 Mendelian ratio due to repair of the damaged strand with genetic material complementary to the other strand .
