African swine fever

n :  an acute highly contagious febrile disease with a very high mortality rate that affects only swine (family Suidae), resembles but is more severe than hog cholera, is caused by an iridovirus, is indigenous to Africa where the virus is maintained in wild pigs (as the warthog and bushpig), has been introduced into Europe, and has occurred in epidemics in the western hemisphere but has been eradicated there .
