Trendelenburg, Friedrich (1844-1924), German surgeon. A professor of surgery, Trendelenburg was the author of numerous articles. It was in an 1890 paper on vesicovaginal fistula that he presented the advantages of an elevated pelvic position for operations within the abdominal cavity.
