n :  a fragrant liquid alcohol C₈H₁₀O that is found in rose oil and neroli oil but is usu. made synthetically and that is used in flavorings and perfumes and as an antibacterial agent in ophthalmic solutions with limited effectiveness - called also phenethyl alcohol  .
