Le·Fort I
n : an operation for reconstruction of the midface in which the teeth-bearing part of the maxilla is separated from its bony attachments and repositioned Le Fort, Léon-Clémont (1829-1893), French surgeon. Le Fort served as professor of surgery in Paris and surgeon to the Htel Dieu. He published monographs on the resection of the knee, military surgery, and maternity care and a manual of operative medicine.
