or chiefly Brit  sul*phi*sox*a*zole  n :  a sulfa drug C11H13N3O3S that is derived from sulfanilamide and isoxazole, is used similarly to other sulfanilamide derivatives, but is less likely to produce renal damage because of its greater solubility .
