Lie·se·gang rings
n pl : a series of usu. concentric bands of a precipitate that are separated by clear spaces and that are often formed in gels by periodic or rhythmic precipitation - called also Liesegang phenomenon Liesegang, Raphael Eduard (1869-1947), German chemist. Liesegang was an outstanding colloid chemist. Investigating the chemical reactions occurring in gels, he discovered the periodic precipitation reactions in gels that are now known as Liesegang rings.
