acute myelogenous leukemia
n : myelogenous leukemia that is marked by an abnormal increase in the number of myeloblasts esp. in bone marrow and blood, that is characterized by symptoms similar to those of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and that may occur either in childhood or adulthood - abbr. AML - called also acute myeloblastic leukemia , acute myelocytic leukemia , acute myeloid leukemia - see ACUTE NONLYMPHOCYTIC LEUKEMIA - compare CHRONIC MYELOGENOUS LEUKEMIA .
